We started the journey long long back, really! We have seen OpenWRT, OpenWISP, OpenSync and many more projects in the Remote Device Management space. We found a gap of standard protocol and data model to manage, provision, monitor and diagnose connected devices remotely.
Thanks to Broadband Forum for bringing TR-069 as a standard to do some of the above activities. We heard, there are more than billion devices having capabilities to be managed through TR-069 and Auto Configuration Server.
Since then we have learnt a lot and technology has evolved very fast. We still need a reliable, scalable, high performing standardized platform to perform all the identified functions and jobs.
We believe Broadband Forums’ User Service Platform (USP) addresses all of the above.
Fortunately or unfortunately, we could not find any open source project so far.
OpenUSP aims to take advantage of infinite talents of architects, designers, developers, testers, product and program managers from Open Source community to build a Cloud platform which will be always free to use by ISPs (Internet Service Providers), Users and other echo system partners.
